How Many Lights Do You Have?

With a combination of both LED and standard lights, we use approximately 60,000 lights but probably own 120,000.

How Much Did It All Cost?

Honestly…we have no idea! We do 99% of our Christmas light shopping at the end of Christmas season. Lights are much cheaper days and weeks after Christmas. I spend more time at Home Depot, Lowes, Target and Wal-Mart after Christmas than I do during the rest of the year.

How Much Is Your Electric Bill?

Our electric bill really doesnt change all that much. This year we do expect that much of change from the previous years. With the use of LED lights in our display this year and with all of the on/off of a lot of our lights, we should be able to conserve electricity.

How Long Does It Take To Setup?

In the past all of my decorating has taken place on Thanksgiving weekend.  We will decorating the house, the bushes, and windows in October  but start planning next years before this year’s is even done. We will work each weekend up to Thanksgiving weekend.

Why Do You Do It?

Since as far back as I can remember, I was nuts for all things Christmas (i.e. lights, decorations, presents, etc.). I loved driving around as a kid with my parents and grandparents looking at all the different displays of lights in our town. It’s also in my blood. My grandfather was “the house to see” in his neighborhood for years and the Air Force base’s lights champion year after year. My dad continued the tradition by decorating year after year and passing along his knowledge and expertise down to me. Finally, its just fun! I love to watch the family’s drive by and seeing the enjoyment and happiness on their faces. Christmas lights take everyone back to special place in their mind that they never want to lose.

We normally dedicate the display to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Nashville because it is not just about us. This year however we are taking cash donations for the Great Smoky Mountains Fire Relief because we are both from East Tennessee. It is about giving and the Christmas spirit.  Why do all this work for just Christmas Lights. What better way to do give than give back to the community while doing something we love.

How Do You Control The Lights?

We use the software and hardware of Light-O-Rama. 144 Channels of LOR behind hundreds of hours of programming.

What Do You Do For A Living?

I work in the Music Business and my wife is a Mixed Media Artist.

What Do Your Neighbors Think?

Most of the neighbors love the lights that we know of!
