Gill’s Bright Lights wants to thank everybody at October Woods for their support of the Christmas light display. They are located at 3513 Pinwheel Drive in October Woods. They are proud to announce their partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank this holiday season to help raise 9 million meals for hungry people in our community.

 Please participate by donating to our Feeding Hope Challenge food drive beginning Monday, November 28, 2011 until Saturday, December 31 2011.

A donation bin will be located at the front of the Mega Tree by the driveway.  

 Most needed items include:

• canned vegetables
• soups
• stews and fruit
• canned meats (tuna and chicken)
• peanut butter

In Tennessee, 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 4 children struggle with hunger – daily. More than 30 percent of our clients must choose between food and other necessities like rent, utilities, medical expenses and transportation. Second Harvest has increased food distribution by 25 percent over the past two year – and we must do more.

The mission of Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee is to feed hungry people and work to solve hunger issues in our community. Second Harvest is a member of Feeding America– the nation’s largest hunger relief organization – and we partner with more than 400 Partner Agencies throughout our 46-county service area in Middle and West Tennessee. Our programs provide emergency food assistance, after school, weekend and summer feeding for children, disaster relief and nutrition education for those in need.
